Running Camps from 2:09 Events
Taking place in mid-March each year and with 200 participants of all abilities over the two available weeks, it has become a must on the training camp circuit.
How it started
I started the camps in 1984 with the Amatuer Athletic Association, now England Athletics (EA) with Ian Thompson, the 1974 Commonwealth and European Champion. After this first year, from 1985, Hugh Jones, London Marathon winner in 1982 came on board. After the first three year’s I took over the camps myself, and since then the camps have grown more and more in stature, celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2024.
The camps are operated by leading running travel company 2:09 Events Ltd, who also have guaranteed race entry packages for the Abbott World Marathon Majors (Tokyo, Boston, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago and New York) and many adventure and trail races. www.209events.com.
Run like a pro, with the pros
To add to the coaching expertise on the camp, in addition to myself, the camp includes Olympic Marathon 6th place finisher and the UK’s third fastest female of all time with 2:23, Mara Yamauchi, and also, sports physio’s, Yoga, Pilates, and Strength & Conditioning experts, who offer one-to-one sessions, roups sessions and evening seminars.

Training Camp, Algarve
The goal of the camp is to help you develop as a runner. It doesn't matter whether you are a complete novice or a seasoned veteran, we can help you. The camp programme is there to offer a structure to the week. On most days there are two daily training sessions: an easy early morning run and a quality session in the late afternoon.
